The Oklahoma Daily won a Gold Crown and Sooner yearbook won a Silver Crown in the 2017 Crown Competition sponsored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
The Daily’s award comes in the category CSPA calls “hybrid” — meaning both print and online.
Sooner’s award is in the yearbook category for the 2015-16 book, edited by Rachel Campbell. That book also received 20 individual awards, including eight first-place honors, in the Gold Circle competition for yearbooks.
Entries were submitted for judging during 2016 and were originally published during academic year 2015-16.
Winners were announced by CSPA March 12 at the national convention in New York.
This was The Daily’s 11th Gold Crown since 1996, but its first since 2011. The news organization has won eight Silver Crowns in that time.
The only other Gold Crown in the news hybrid category this year went to the Indiana Daily Student.
