Deadlines are critical to news organizations, including The Daily. If pages don’t clock on time, our printer may have employees standing idle, could move another job ahead of ours, deliver us late and leave our carriers unable to distribute our publication. Additionally, we can be fined for missed deadlines.

PAGE-FLOW: The Daily’s final deadline for the newspaper’s final two pages is 10:30 unless the editor has requested and been granted an extension in extenuating circumstances for a late developing event.

CLOCKING: The supervising production editor clocks pages by uploading them via FTP/Fetch for newspaper pages sent to The Transcript, and via the upload portal for magazine pages sent to Printing Services. They should also log pages clocked and time sent on the clipboard in the production office.
