The honor marks the 15th Gold Crown in The Daily’s history, including its third consecutive and fourth in the past five years.
The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison, judged on their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. A total of 852 publications were eligible for judging across all categories.
Work judged spanned June 2019-June 2020, across the tenures of summer 2019 editor Scott Kirker and fall 2019-spring 2020 editor Nick Hazelrigg.
We also learned this week the OU Daily advertising operation won three awards in the College Media Business and Advertising Managers contest for work produced in 2020.
- 1st place in print ad campaign, paid, for work done for University Liquor.
- 1st place in static digital ad, for work done for Bedlam Blood Drive.
- 3rd place for digital self-promotion ad.
Congrats to all the students involved.
