Daily reporter places second in Hearst Awards sports competition

George Stoia placed 2nd in the nation in the Hearst Awards’ sports reporting category for his series on concussions that ran last May. It’s The Daily’s highest finish in any category since 2007 in the contest that is considered one of the highest accolades students can receive at this point in their careers. (It also comes with a hefty financial prize.)

This marks our fourth placement of the 2019-20 Hearst cycle. Last year, staffers from The Daily placed in five Hearst categories. Since 2014-15, The Daily now has placed 12 times in the contest.
