Congrats to Caitlyn Epes and Paxson Haws, who placed tonight in the Hearst Awards photography competition for their portfolios of images encompassing news, features, portraits and sports. Epes tied for 12th and Haws came in 18th in a competition that names a top 20 in the nation.
This marks The Daily’s first two placements of the 2019-20 Hearst cycle, which staggers its category deadlines throughout the academic year.
Last year, staffers from The Daily placed in five Hearst categories. Since 2014-15, The Daily now has placed 10 times in the contest, which honors the best in collegiate journalism.
