Trey Young tied for 19th in the nation Friday in the Hearst Awards’ news and feature photography category for a portfolio of work, including the image featured above.
The contest names the top 20 college photographers in the nation.
This marks The Daily’s first placement of the 2020-21 Hearst cycle, which staggers its category deadlines throughout the academic year. It also marks The Daily’s second consecutive year to place in the photojournalism category.
Last year, staffers from The Daily placed nine times in various Hearst categories. Since 2014-15, The Daily now has placed 18 times in the contest, which honors the best in collegiate journalism.
