OU alum Kevin Jairaj’s donation elevates OU Daily photographers’ toolboxes

A new partnership has enriched the toolboxes of three OU Daily photographers.

College Football Playoff and USA Today Sports Images photographer Kevin Jairaj, OU class of 1995, connected with OU Daily photo editor Caitlyn Epes in the course of shooting home football games in the past year. A mentoring dynamic took root, and this season Jairaj inquired about the software Epes, who interned with the NFL as a photo intern last summer, used in the course of her deadline work at The Daily.

Afterward, Jairaj generously offered to donate to Student Media so we could buy three licenses for Photo Mechanic, a photo managing software, used by professional sports photographers and others in the field. Our photographers working major sports events will now be able to batch edit, caption and export much faster and with greater ease than before, which will propel their images from their eyes to our audience’s much faster.

Thank you, Kevin, for your support of Student Media and our students. It’s greatly appreciated!
